As predicted, the final two hearings to approve the Venice Dell project have just been scheduled during the holidays. The community must come out in significant numbers! We need everyone who has ever thought this was the wrong project in the wrong location to speak out now – this is our last chance to have our voices heard!
Good news: our lawsuit has resulted in a special City Transportation Commission hearing being scheduled – exactly what we asked for – and that day has finally come:

We’ll need as many people as we can possibly gather to come down to City Hall with us to the City Transportation Commission hearing to comment on all issues related to the public parking garage at the center of the Venice Dell project.
The City is responsible for owning and operating the proposed parking structure and is required to have approval from the City Transportation Commission. This must happen before Coastal approves the project.

The very next day the Venice Dell project is on the agenda for Coastal Commission’s meeting in Newport Beach, being rammed through by the developers! PLEASE SAVE DECEMBER 11th as well, with more information on that meeting to come.
In more good news, likely due to all our efforts along with the VNC motion requesting the City act to defer the Coastal hearing, our City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto has written to the Coastal Commission and asking them to postpone their hearing in order to allow the City to do its job. See her outstanding letter here, and please know it won’t mean a thing unless we come out in huge numbers to support the CA’s action!
It couldn’t be more important for our presence to be seen and our opposition heard! After 8 years, it all comes down to this! Even if you’ve never attended a meeting before, now is the time to join us now! This is your last opportunity to help save Venice from the Venice Dell disaster!
